JAMES D. SAYRE President
Ventures Cargill, Incorporated

Jim Sayre is President and Founder of Cargill Ventures, and is based in San Mateo, California. Cargill Ventures has made over 30 investments in early stage technology companies since 1999 and is recognized as one of the leading direct-investment corporate venture funds in North America.

Prior to his current position, Jim was the Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for Cargill where he participated in transactions valued at over $5 billion. Jim was a senior manager for Deloitte Consulting working in its business reorganization (eg corporate turnaround) group before joining Cargill. In addition, Jim has worked in the US Department of Agriculture and the US Senate.

Jim serves on the board of Directors of DemandTec, EcoSynthetix, iTradeNetwork and oversees Cargill Ventures' investment in Endomatrix. He also serves Cargill’s I/T Strategy Steering Committee.

He holds a B.A. from the University of California at Davis and an M.B.A from Harvard University.
